Australian printing industry and other manufacturing industries contracted for seven consecutive months

Australian industry group ~ PwC manufacturing ----- according to the performanceofmanufacturingindex (PMI), the engineering research center of the Ministry of education for molded products at Dalian University of technology, the manufacturing activity in Australia has contracted for seven consecutive months. In December 2008, the PMI index rose slightly by 1.0 points to 33.7 points, and below 50 points indicates the contraction of economic activity. In contrast, in November, the US manufacturing index fell from 38.9 to 36.2, the eurozone manufacturing index fell from 41.1 to 35.6, Japan from 42.2 to 36.7, and China from 45.2 to 40.9

in December 2008, PMI's new orders and employment index continued to decline, but the decline rate slowed slightly compared with November, while production, warehouse goods and supplier shipments all fell faster than the previous month. The pressure on the growth of average wages, sales prices and input costs has eased slightly, and the decline in exports of manufactured goods has slowed down. According to the data in December, the continuous reduction of interest rates by the global and Australian federal governments and the government equipment flow range from 15 to 140 g/s, and the government's measures to increase expenditure have not yet had an effect on stimulating the demand of the manufacturing industry

the continued decline in manufacturing activity reflects the downturn in consumer demand, and the simultaneous contraction of the global manufacturing industry also indicates the recession in the construction industry and the slowing manufacturing demand in various countries

among the 12 manufacturing industries, all industries have contracted, among which building materials, clothing and footwear, paper, printing and publishing, and miscellaneous manufacturing industries have the largest decline; Transportation equipment, metal products, alkali metal manufacturing, wood, wood products, furniture and other industries declined slightly

after seasonal adjustment, the new order index rose 5.6 points to 30.1 points, still at the level of 50 points representing the contraction of the industry, which is the eighth consecutive month of decline. The number of new orders decreased in all industries

after seasonal adjustment, the manufacturing employment index rose by 2.8 points to 36.0 points. Without seasonal adjustment, only the food and soft drink industry has increased employment, while none of the industries increased last month. The average wage index fell 1.0 points to 57.2
